Zushi | 8.8

If you’re a sushi lover and happen to be in Amsterdam, you should definitely check out restaurant Zushi. This restaurant offers a unique experience of choosing your sushi based on what you see, rather than what you read on a menu. It’s an exciting concept that makes your dining experience more interactive and engaging, allowing you to visually select what you want to eat as it passes by on a conveyor belt or is displayed in the restaurant.

As soon as you step into the restaurant, you’ll notice the clean and modern decor that sets a sophisticated yet comfortable ambiance. The sushi bar is prominently situated right in front of you, offering a front-row seat to the culinary action. The open kitchen design allows you to watch the chefs expertly prepare your food, which adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. One thing that stands out at Zushi is the high standard of hygiene maintained by the chefs. We were impressed to see the chef clean the kitchen at least three times during our two-hour meal, which reflects their commitment to cleanliness and food safety.

The fish at Zushi is exceptionally fresh, and the quality of their offerings is evident in each bite. We particularly enjoyed the salmon sashimi, which was so tender and fresh that it practically melted in our mouths. It’s clear that Zushi places a strong emphasis on sourcing high-quality ingredients. We also tried the wagyu A3, and it did not disappoint. The beef was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection by the chef. The beef rolls, duck, and yellowtail sashimi were also delicious and worthy of praise. Each dish was prepared with precision and skill, highlighting the expertise of the culinary team.

However, the dining experience was not without a minor critique. Some of the sushi rolls were not as well-filled as we would have liked, which slightly detracted from the overall satisfaction. This was a minor issue, though, and did not overshadow the otherwise great dining experience we had.

Another positive aspect of Zushi is that you can order individual sushi rolls and meat dishes, which allows you to have greater control over the quality and variety of your meal. This flexibility is an excellent feature, as it lets you tailor your dining experience to your preferences and ensures that each dish meets your expectations.

The restaurant’s unique approach to sushi dining, combined with its fresh ingredients and interactive service style, makes Zushi a standout option for sushi enthusiasts in Amsterdam. The opportunity to select your food visually adds a fun and personalized element to the meal, enhancing the overall dining experience.

In summary, Zushi is a must-visit for sushi lovers in Amsterdam. The fresh fish, interactive dining experience, and high-quality ingredients make it a premier sushi destination in the city. Despite a minor issue with some of the sushi rolls, the overall experience is highly enjoyable and worth the visit. I highly recommend trying it out if you’re looking for a memorable sushi experience in Amsterdam.

Good to know: Zushi is not an all-you-can-eat restaurant, so be prepared to order individual dishes based on your preferences and appetite.
