Spicy Tuna Bowl

Serves: 1 person

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 spring onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons Japanese mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
  • 1 can tuna (grilled or canned)
  • 2 sheets seaweed, in pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions for the spicy tuna bowl.

  1. Prepare the Spicy Tuna:
    • In a bowl, combine the canned or grilled tuna with Japanese mayonnaise, Gochujang, sesame oil, black pepper, chili flakes, and chili powder. Mix well until the tuna is evenly coated with the spicy sauce. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Rice:
    • Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and let it cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Veggies:
    • Dice the cucumber, slice the avocado, and finely chop the spring onions.
  4. Assemble the Bowl:
    • In a serving bowl, start with a base of cooked rice.
    • Arrange the spicy tuna mixture on top or next to the rice.
    • Add the diced cucumber, sliced avocado, and chopped spring onions around the bowl for a colorful and vibrant presentation.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds over the bowl for added texture and flavor.
    • Garnish with shredded seaweed on top.
  5. Finish and Serve:
    • Drizzle a little extra Japanese mayonnaise on top for a creamy touch.
    • Finish the bowl with a light sprinkle of black pepper for an extra kick.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Spicy Tuna Bowl!
