Slowth Brunch | 8.4

In the bustling heart of Amsterdam, a charming Taiwanese restaurant beckons those seeking the perfect setting for a leisurely Sunday brunch. Slowth, as its name implies, offers an experience of unhurried brunch experiece, coupled with warm ambiance, exceptional beverages, and food. I’ve recently discovered this hidden gem and can’t help but declare it my new favorite brunch spot for a lazy Sunday morning or afternoon. Join me on a journey to explore the Slowth brunch experience in Amsterdam, a haven where time slows down, and every moment is savored.

As you step inside, you’re immediately greeted with a tranquil ambiance that transports you to a place where life takes a back seat and every moment is meant to be cherished. The restaurant’s name, “Slowth,” sets the tone for the entire experience, encouraging patrons to relax and enjoy their visit at a more deliberate pace.

The slowth theme extends beyond just the name; it encompasses every aspect of the restaurant. From the laid-back atmosphere to the thoughtful decor, everything is designed to make you feel at ease and encourage you to embrace the moment fully and ofcourse there are slowths everywhere.

Now, let’s delve into the culinary delights that await at Slowth. The chai latte at Slowth is a masterful blend of aromatic spices that create a soothing and flavorsome experience. The warm, comforting beverage alone is worth the visit.

But Slowth doesn’t stop at fantastic beverages; it offers a diverse menu of Taiwanese dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. During my visit, we had the pleasure of trying the best and juiciest chicken, scallion pancakes, ducks, eggs and more.

One dish that truly impressed me was the scallion pancake with duck. The scallion pancake, with its crispy and flaky texture, served as the perfect canvas for the succulent duck. This dish is a true masterpiece of flavors and textures, offering a mouthwatering experience that lingers on the palate.

While Slowth excels in providing a serene atmosphere and delectable dishes, there’s one aspect of the dining experience that might stand out to newcomers: the timing of service. Slowth’s commitment to the “slowth” theme extends to the pace of service as well. During my visit, I noticed that the restaurant doesn’t serve drinks and food simultaneously, even for parties of two. For instance, when my companion and I ordered a coffee and a chai latte (which, by the way, are generously sized), there was a noticeable ten-minute gap between the delivery of the two beverages. A similar gap occurred when our food was served. My dish arrived promptly, but it took an additional ten minutes for my companion’s order to make its appearance.

While this aspect may require a slight adjustment to your dining expectations, it certainly doesn’t detract from the overall charm of the restaurant. In fact, it enhances the unhurried, relaxed vibe that makes Slowth such a special place to enjoy a leisurely brunch.

Slowth is a haven for those seeking a tranquil and memorable brunch experience in Amsterdam. If you’re in search of a unique dining setting that prioritizes quality over speed, Slowth should be at the top of your list. Its cozy atmosphere, delectable food, and renowned chai latte make it an ideal destination for anyone looking to savor a leisurely Sunday morning or afternoon.

In conclusion, I’ve shared my enchanting journey into the world of Slowth in Amsterdam, and I can’t emphasize enough how this restaurant embodies the concept of “slowth” to create an extraordinary dining experience. With its soothing ambiance, remarkable beverages, and mouthwatering dishes, Slowth offers more than just a meal – it offers a retreat from the fast-paced world outside, where you can unwind, relax, and embrace the beauty of a leisurely brunch. Give it a try, and you’ll discover why Slowth has quickly become my go-to brunch spot in Amsterdam.
