Sla | 8.5

As someone who appreciates all things culinary, I’m always on the lookout for unique dining experiences, regardless of whether they cater to my non-vegetarian preferences. So, when I heard about restaurant Sla, a vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam, I couldn’t resist giving sla a try. Accompanied by a vegan friend, we ventured into the world of a mostly plant-based cuisine.

To my pleasant surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Sla. While I may not be a regular vegetarian or vegan eater, I can appreciate a well-crafted and delicious dish. Sla exceeded my expectations, showcasing the creativity and flavors that can be achieved through plant-based ingredients.

To kick off the experience, I decided to try the ginger-carrot drink. The combination of ginger’s subtle heat and the natural sweetness of carrots created a refreshing and invigorating beverage. It was a perfect choice to cleanse the palate and awaken the taste buds.

For my main course, I opted for a bowl packed with a variety of wholesome ingredients. The combination of quinoa, sweet potato, edamame, corn, and a generous serving of creamy avocado created a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The avocado, in particular, was the creamiest I had encountered in the Netherlands. It added a luxurious and satisfying element to the dish. To top it all off, vegan parmesan cheese provided an interesting twist.

What impressed me most about my meal at Sla was not only its deliciousness but also its satiating power. Despite being a vegetarian bowl, it left me feeling satisfied and energized for hours afterward. It’s a testament to the restaurant’s ability to create dishes that are both nutritious and fulfilling.

Overall, my experience at Sla was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant’s commitment to vegetarian and vegan cuisine shone through in each thoughtfully crafted dish. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I can confidently say that Sla has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of plant-based dining. While I may not convert to a strict vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, I now appreciate the flavors and creativity that can be achieved without relying on animal products.

If you’re in Amsterdam and looking to explore the world of vegetarian cuisine, Sla is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re a committed vegetarian or simply curious about expanding your culinary horizons, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your palate. As for me, I’ll be returning to Sla for more of their wholesome and flavorful creations.
