Scotaditto | 7.8

When it comes to dining experiences in Amsterdam, Italian restaurant Scotaditto is a restaurant that stands out for its delightful cuisine. However, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings due to the slow service. Let’s delve into the details.

The carpaccio at Scotaditto was undoubtedly the best and freshest I have ever had. The meat was sliced paper-thin, and you could even hear the satisfying sound of it being delicately pounded. Each bite was a burst of flavors, with the combination of tenderloin beef, olive oil, and generous shavings of Parmesan creating a harmonious symphony for the taste buds. It was truly a carpaccio to remember.

Another standout dish was the “Linguini Imperiali allo Scoglio.” It transported my taste buds to a realm of seafood paradise. The linguini pasta was perfectly cooked, and the medley of fresh seafood, including vongole and tender mussels, provided a delightful burst of flavors with every mouthful. The garlic sauce was rich and complemented the dish beautifully. It was a true highlight of the meal.

However, despite the culinary delights, the slow service left much to be desired. Upon entering the restaurant, my boyfriend and I were left unattended for a good five minutes, despite the staff being right in front of us. Additionally, the preparation of our main dishes took an incredibly long time, clocking in at a frustrating 1.5 hours. It was perplexing, especially considering the small number of persons in the restaurant at that time. Such an extended waiting period dampened the overall dining experience.

Furthermore, some dishes fell short of expectations. The pesto used on the salmon burrata tasted as if it had been store-bought, lacking the fresh and vibrant flavors and colors one would hope for. The pizza, too, lacked the flavorful punch I had anticipated. While the ingredients were of decent quality, the overall taste seemed to be missing that extra something.

In conclusion, Scotaditto offers a tantalizing array of dishes that showcase their commitment to culinary excellence. The carpaccio and “Linguini Imperiali allo Scoglio” were true culinary triumphs, bursting with flavors and freshness. However, the slow service and the shortcomings in certain dishes detracted from the overall experience. If you’re willing to overlook the service hiccups and focus on the amazing carpaccio, a visit to Scotaditta might be worthwhile. But be prepared for a leisurely dining experience that requires patience.
