Samizu | 8.6

Nestled in the heart of Malta, Samizu stands out as a quaint and charming restaurant that promises a delightful dining experience. Despite the absence of dedicated parking spots, the allure of Samizu extends beyond logistical inconveniences, captivating visitors with its attractive ambiance and a menu that boasts a variety of tempting dishes.
As you approach Samizu, you’ll notice its large windows that give the restaurant an airy and inviting feel. The interior is bathed in natural light during the day, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Our culinary journey at Samizu began with an exploration of their diverse menu, featuring a mix of traditional and contemporary dishes. Our choices included a pork and beef burger, steak tartare, fried baby calamari, crispy fries, and a seafood platter.

The steak tartare stood out as a true star of the meal, offering a burst of freshness and flavor that delighted our taste buds. The finely chopped beef was perfectly seasoned, showcasing the chef’s dedication to quality ingredients.

The fried baby calamari, though a seemingly simple dish, surprised us with its deliciousness. While it might be challenging to mess up fried calamari, Samizu took it a step further, offering a dish that was crispy, flavorful, and utterly satisfying.

Crispy fries are often a benchmark for judging the overall quality of a meal, and Samizu did not disappoint in this regard. The fries were impeccably crispy, providing a delightful contrast to the other textures on our plate. We tried the sweet potato fries and the regular fries.

While the pork and beef burger failed to leave a lasting impression, it still satisfied our hunger with its decent flavor. The seafood platter showcased the kitchen’s commitment to freshness, with the ordered fishes being particularly commendable.

A slight letdown came with the scallop “tartare.” Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations, resembling more of a chopped scallop dish in a sauce bowl rather than a true tartare. Despite this hiccup, the overall dining experience at Samizu was a positive one, with the highlights overshadowing the minor imperfections.

Samizu may lack dedicated parking spots, but its charming atmosphere and diverse menu make it a worthwhile destination for food enthusiasts seeking a delightful culinary experience. From the mouthwatering steak tartare to the crispy fries, Samizu offers a mix of flavors and textures that will leave you satisfied and eager to return for another culinary adventure.
