Papi’s Comfort Kitchen | 7.6

In this article, I’ll take you to Papi’s Comfort Kitchen in Utrecht.

This cozy brunch spot has attracted attention for its delicious brunch dishes and inviting ambiance, attracting locals and visitors alike. Recently, I had the pleasure of having brunch at Papi’s and enjoying their delicious chicken dishes.

As we settled into our seats at Papi’s, our eyes were immediately drawn to two enticing items on the menu: the Chicken and Waffles and the Spicy Chicken Burger. With eager anticipation, we placed our orders and waited for the arrival of our meals (which did take some time)

The Chicken and Waffles arrived promptly, with golden brown waffles topped with crispy fried chicken, topped with some spices and a generous amount of maple syrup on the side. Although the dish was delicious, I felt it lacked a bit of creativity. The combination of chicken, waffles and syrup is indeed a classic, but I couldn’t rid myself of the feeling that some additional toppings or side dishes would make it an extraordinary dish.

Next up was the Spicy Chicken Burger, a bold creation designed to tantalize the taste buds. This burger, with its juicy chicken patty, fresh lettuce, and spicy sauce, lived up to its promise of delivering bold flavors with every bite. The balance between the heat of the sauce and the freshness of the ingredients was spot on, making it a standout dish that left us thoroughly satisfied. It was clear that Papi’s excels at crafting comfort food that hits all the right notes.

In addition to their mouthwatering food offerings, Papi’s also boasts an impressive selection of cocktails and even has their own house-made beer. From classic mimosas to inventive concoctions, there was something to please every palate. Unfortunately, we were unable to sample their house beer during our visit due to an issue with the beer barrel—a minor disappointment amidst an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. The cocktails we did try, however, were delightful and paired well with our meals, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our brunch.

One thing to note about Papi’s is that despite their website indicating ample seating, making a reservation is highly recommended. Like many other guests, my partner and I found ourselves waiting at the bar before a table became available. The wait wasn’t too long, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit, especially during peak hours.

In short, Papi’s Comfort Kitchen is a charming brunch spot in Utrecht that promises to satisfy your appetite for savory delights. While there may have been a few minor hiccups, such as the lack of toppings on the Chicken and Waffles, the temporary unavailability of the house beer and the and the service that could have been a little faster, the overall dining experience was still good. So, if you are in Utrecht and looking for a nice brunch spot, be sure to visit Papi’s! Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that’s sure to leave you with a smile.
