Nestled discreetly in the heart of Amsterdam, Njoy Cocktail Bar is a true hidden gem that beckons cocktail enthusiasts seeking a unique and exclusive experience. Boasting an air of mystery and an upscale ambiance, Njoy offers patrons a tantalizing array of cocktails ranging from €14 to €20, each with its own distinctive flair. Our recent visit to Njoy left us pleasantly surprised, as the bar not only delivered impeccable drinks but also added a touch of spectacle to our evening.

Skepticism often accompanies visits to cocktail bars, since there are lots of overhyped cocktailbars serving unbalanced cocktail creations. However, Njoy defied these expectations with an impressive lineup of perfectly crafted cocktails. With a group of four, we embarked on a tasting adventure, sampling a total of 12 cocktails. Despite the relatively steep prices, the quality and creativity of the drinks justified the cost.

What sets Njoy apart from the typical cocktail joint is its commitment to providing more than just a drink – it’s an experience. Some cocktails come with a side of entertainment, as skilled bartenders showcase their flair with little cocktail shows involving fire, smoke, and other theatrics. The combination of a delicious drink and a visually stunning presentation adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.

The interior of Njoy is a feast for the eyes aswell, resembling a luxurious train coupe (or atleast it looked like it ). The stylish decor contributes to an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for a night out with friends or a romantic date.

While the visual aspects of Njoy delighted us, the auditory experience left something to be desired. The music was notably loud, making it challenging to engage in conversation. This aspect, while contributing to the overall vibe, might get in the way for those seeking a more relaxed and conversational atmosphere.

Our enthusiasm was slightly tempered by an odd turn of events during our visit. After enjoying the first couple of rounds of cocktails, we found ourselves unintentionally ignored for the next few rounds. It was perplexing to see the staff attend to other tables while we patiently awaited service. Additionally, the preparation time for our final round of drinks seemed unusually lengthy compared to the swift service earlier in the evening. This peculiar inconsistency left us wondering if Njoy had an unspoken limit on the number of cocktails people were encouraged to order

The craftsmanship of the drinks, combined with the visual spectacles at the bar, creates a memorable night. While the ambiance is delightful, potential visitors should be prepared for a lively atmosphere and be mindful of potential service quirks.
