NEXT NDSM offers a unique dining experience that has both good food and fantastic service. As a shared dining restaurant, NEXT NDSM offers a diverse menu of seafood, meat, vegetarian dishes, appetizers and desserts, something for everyone. Our recent visit, provided us with a memorable evening of delectable culinary adventures and exceptional service.
Exceptional Service
The service at NEXT NDSM was a highlight of our visit. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a staff member who meticulously explained the restaurant’s unique system. She guided us through the menu, gave insightful recommendations and explained how to combine dishes for the best dining experience. Her approach to expectation management was excellent, so we knew what to expect with each course.
Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff remained enthusiastic and professional. The dishes were brought to our table by several waitresses, all of whom exhibited an infectious enthusiasm for their work. The sheer number of staff members and their consistent energy suggested a well-run team environment. Although the different attire of the staff made it a bit difficult to identify them, their frequent visits to our table ensured that we did not have to look for them.
The Culinary Experience
Our culinary journey began with a selection of oysters. We tasted both the classic oysters and the smokey Paloma variety. The oysters were unmistakably fresh and although the smokey Paloma offered an intriguing twist, the simplicity and purity of the classic oysters was my preference.
The lobster roll was a striking dish, beautifully presented with a generous portion of tender lobster in every bite. The balance of herbs, crusty bread and creamy elements was good, bringing out the delicate flavor of the lobster.
A must for me in any restaurant is the steak tartare, and NEXT NDSM did not disappoint. Served in crispy toast with a hint of truffle, the steak tartare offered a pleasant textural contrast, though the flavor profile remained comfortably familiar.
The ceviche of hamachi and zucchini with pistachio were well executed but not extraordinary. The ceviche was fresh and well prepared, while the zucchini dish, though simple, highlighted the quality of the ingredients, though we did miss some flavor here.
The fries with truffle mayonnaise and parmesan were a delicious side dish. The fries were crisp and well seasoned, and the freshly made mayonnaise added a luxurious touch.
For dessert, we feasted on a chocolate creation with hazelnuts and whiskey ice cream, and another with strawberry, kombucha and rhubarb. Both desserts were delicious and provided a sweet and refreshing conclusion to our meal.
A Comprehensive Beverage Menu
NEXT NDSM also has an extensive drink menu, with a long list of cocktails, mocktails and wines. The cocktails we tried were perfectly balanced, complemented our meal and enhanced the overall dining experience.
Final Thoughts
Overall, our experience at NEXT NDSM was characterized by excellent service and good quality food. While not every dish was bursting with unique flavors, the high quality ingredients and thoughtful presentation made for a satisfying meal. NDSM NEXT is a fun place for people who want to enjoy a variety of well-prepared dishes in a lively and enthusiastic environment.
