Ladybird | 8.3

If you’re a fan of fried chicken and you happen to be in Amsterdam, Lady Bird fried chicken is a restaurant that you should definitely check out. Located in the De Pijp neighborhood, Lady Bird has been making waves for its delicious fried chicken, tasty sauces, and trendy ambiance. After hearing so much about it, we decided to give it a try and here is what we thought about our experience.

First things first, the restaurant can get pretty busy, so if you’re planning on going there, be prepared to wait in line. We tried to visit the restaurant on three different occasions, and the first time they had run out of chicken, which was a bummer. The next two times, the line was incredibly long, making it difficult to justify the wait when we were hungry. However, persistence paid off, and on our last attempt, we were fortunate enough to arrive when there was no line at all, which was a relief and allowed us to dive straight into the dining experience.

The chicken at Lady Bird is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and it comes with a variety of sauces that complement the flavor of the chicken perfectly. We tried the classic hot sauce, the blue cheese sauce and the mayple syrup. Each sauce brought something different to the table, enhancing the chicken in its own way. The hot sauce had the perfect kick, the blue cheese offered a creamy counterpoint, and the maple syrup added a delightful sweetness that contrasted beautifully with the savory crunch of the chicken. If you’re a fried chicken enthusiast, Lady Bird’s offerings are sure to impress.

However, we have to admit that we were a bit disappointed with the mac and cheese. We had heard great things about it, but we found it to be a bit tasteless. It lacked the cheesy flavor that we were expecting, and we felt like it could have used some more seasoning. That being said, it wasn’t entirely bad—just not as standout as the chicken. We might give it another try on our next visit to see if it was just an off day in the kitchen.

In addition to the food, the ambiance at Lady Bird is worth mentioning. The restaurant has a trendy, laid-back vibe that makes it a great spot to hang out with friends. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall positive experience. Even though the wait times can be long, the atmosphere makes it a bit easier to bear.

Overall, we had a great experience at Lady Bird. The restaurant has a trendy vibe, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The chicken is definitely the star of the show, and we would recommend it to anyone who loves fried chicken. The only downside is the long wait, so make sure you plan accordingly. If you’re willing to wait in line for a delicious meal, then Lady Bird is definitely worth a visit. We would give it a rating of 8.3 out of 10 stars.
