Kazik Amsterdam: A Cozy Spot for a Polish Brunch Experience

If you’re looking for a unique brunch experience in Amsterdam, Kazik Amsterdam is a hidden gem specializing in Polish flavors, particularly their beloved zapiekanki. With authentic recipes, cozy vibes, and a friendly staff, Kazik Amsterdam is the perfect place to immerse yourself in a taste of Poland.

Zapiekanki: A Polish Classic

The star of the show at Kazik is undoubtedly the zapiekanki. These are open, oven-baked baguettes generously topped with a homemade mushroom spread, gooey gouda and mozzarella cheese, and a range of other fresh toppings to choose from. This traditional Polish street food is both comforting and hearty, ideal for brunch or a mid-day treat. Each bite is full of flavor and texture, capturing the essence of a Polish favorite.

More than Just Zapiekanki

Kazik Amsterdam’s menu also includes a selection of breakfast options, including dishes with eggs and sweets. For those who love discovering new flavors, they offer an additional menu only displayed inside the restaurant. When we visited, this menu featured traditional Polish pierogi (dumplings) and other regional delights, providing an authentic taste of Poland.

A Cozy, Bustling Atmosphere

Kazik is a small, intimate restaurant, which makes it charming but also means it can fill up quickly. When we arrived, every table was occupied, and the restaurant was buzzing with activity. While waiting for our meal, we opted to sit on one of the benches outside to enjoy the ambiance of the bustling neighborhood. If you plan to dine in, be prepared for a cozy experience or consider taking your meal to-go if the inside is full.

A Note on Service Time

Kazik Amsterdam is popular among locals and visitors alike, so it’s no surprise the place was busy when we visited. We received our drinks immediately, but our food took around 30 minutes to arrive. Given that every table was full and they were handling take-out orders, the wait felt reasonable, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re on a tight schedule. If you’re looking for a relaxed brunch and don’t mind a little extra wait time, it’s well worth it.

Friendly Polish Staff

One of the highlights of dining at Kazik Amsterdam is the warm, welcoming staff. The servers are Polish, adding to the authentic experience and making it feel like you’re being hosted by a Polish family. The staff’s knowledge of the cuisine and their attentiveness created a homely atmosphere that made our brunch feel even more special.

Final Thoughts

Kazik Amsterdam offers a unique and authentic Polish brunch experience that’s perfect for anyone looking to try something new in Amsterdam. Whether you’re here for the zapiekanki or the pierogi, Kazik serves up delicious, homemade Polish flavors with genuine hospitality. Just be prepared for a cozy setting and possibly a wait, as this small spot is popular for good reason. For those willing to wait, Kazik Amsterdam is a brunch destination worth adding to your list!
