In a world where food waste is a growing concern, there is an app called Too Good To Go. This innovative platform not only helps us save money but also makes a positive impact on the environment by rescuing delicious food from ending up in the trash. Recently, I had the chance of discovering Rahmouni Patisserie in Amsterdam through this app. For just €4.99, I had the opportunity to explore a box of pastries and cakes at Rahmouni that the app valued at a whopping €14.99.
Upon picking up my Too Good To Go surprise box from Rahmouni Patisserie, I was eager to see what treasures it held. The app promised a selection of snacks that could be sweet and savory bread, bites, and pastries, but specifics remained a mystery. I estimated the individual item prices to be between €3,50 and €4.50 each, based on the prizes of the other items in the store, since I couldn’t find the exact prizing.
Inside the box, I found an array of tantalizing treats. There were four different types of pastries, a slice of chocolate cake, two pastries that looked liked tompouces, but with white chocolate on top (a classic Dutch pastry), and one item had cream in it, honey on top and coconut flakes on the side. There was definitely a lot going on, but the taste wasn’t that strong. Rahmouni is a maroccan bakery, so i’m not sure what the items called.
The chocolate pastry was an immediate delight for my taste buds, with its rich cocoa flavor and creamy texture. However, my experience with the other pastries left me somewhat ambivalent. It’s essential to acknowledge that my experience might not reflect the quality of Rahmouni Patisserie’s regular offerings.
The other pastries, though visually appealing, seemed to be a bit on the dry side. While it’s unclear whether this was due to the nature of the Too Good To Go initiative or if it was the intended texture, it did impact my overall enjoyment. Taste is subjective, and for some, the slightly drier texture might be a preferred characteristic.
In retrospect, despite my mixed feelings about some of the pastries, I must admit that the opportunity to try out new and unexpected flavors was a unique and enjoyable experience. After all, one person’s taste preferences may not align with someone else’s, and trying Rahmouni Patisserie’s offerings via Too Good To Go allowed me to explore a range of pastries without a significant financial commitment.
Rahmouni Patisserie, discovered through the Too Good To Go app, offers an exciting way to enjoy sweet and savory delights while contributing to the reduction of food waste. My personal experience with the pastries varied, but it’s essential to keep in mind that every visit to a patisserie or bakery may yield different results. While I may not purchase the Too Good To Go surprise box from Rahmouni Patisserie again, I would encourage others to give it a try and form their own opinions. After all, food is a matter of personal taste, and this unique experience may lead to a newfound appreciation for the artistry of pastry-making and a deeper commitment to reducing food waste in our communities.
