Blushing Amsterdam: A Popular Spot for Coffee, breakfast, lunch & more.

Nestled near the Museumplein, a popular location among tourists, Blushing Amsterdam is more than just a café – it’s a hotspot owned by a Dutch celebrity, callled Gordon, who is known for his career as a singer, presenter, and writer. With its prime location and famous founder, it’s no surprise that Blushing attracts both locals and tourists alike.

First Impressions

When we arrived, Blushing was already bustling with activity. Despite being full, the staff managed the queue efficiently, and we only waited about five minutes for a table. However, the line grew rapidly behind us, eventually stretching outside. It was hard to tell if this was due to the café’s proximity to Museumplein or the draw of Gordon’s name, but one thing was clear: Blushing is a popular destination for coffee, breakfast, lunch & more.

Service

Once seated, the service impressed us with its speed and efficiency. Our drinks arrived in no time, followed shortly by our food. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone – both seated guests and those waiting in line – had a smooth and enjoyable experience, which is something you don’t see that often anymore.

Drinks

We started with a selection of drinks:

  • 100% Fresh Juice: A refreshing option that tasted as vibrant as it looked. It contained Ginger, apple and carrot.
  • Latte Macchiato and Cappuccino: Both were beautifully presented with intricate latte art, adding a touch of charm to our visit.

Food

For food, we tried the Avocado Toast with Poached Egg and the Gordon all time favorite with Pastrami, egg, parmesan cheese, chimichurri and more (ordered twice).

  • Avocado Toast
The dish was well-executed, with fresh avocado’s and perfectly poached eggs. However, since it wasn’t avocado season, the avocado itself lacked its usual flavor. Thankfully, the spices used in the dish compensated, making it a satisfying choice overall. The bread that was uses, was fresh as well.
  • Gordon all time favorite with Pastrami
The Gordon all time favorite was tasty and nicely portioned, but didn’t stand out as extraordinary. While enjoyable, it felt like a standard option rather than something truly unique to this café.

Next to the dishes we had, you could chose between all kinds of classic dishes with eggs and some more special options like Eggs benedictus korean style, which was poached eggs with pulled pork in BBQ sauce, served with 2 croissants or the pumkin pancakes with haver and all kinds of fruits. There is definitely something for anyone!

Final Thoughts

Blushing Amsterdam delivers a pleasant dining experience with its efficient service, fresh ingredients, and cozy ambiance. While the food might not be groundbreaking, it’s a solid choice for a quick bite or a coffee break in a prime Amsterdam location.

If you’re near Museumplein or curious to visit Gordon’s café, Blushing is worth a stop – just be prepared to wait if you visit during peak hours.
