Nestled in Funchal the biggest city on Madeira, Restaurant Barracuda is a culinary gem that captures the essence of Portuguese cuisine like no other. The restaurant offers authentic Portuguese dishes that won’t break the bank, making it an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers. They have a huge menu with lots of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes so there is something available for everyone.

Barracuda is known for its generous portions, ensuring you leave the restaurant with a satisfied palate. Each of their delicious main dishes comes with a huge serving of vegetables and a side of fries with some mayo, adding to the overall value for money.

During my visit, I tried the local delicacy, Scabbard with Banana. This unique dish features tender scabbard fish served with a flavorful banana on top, creating a delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors. It was so tasty, haven’t had anything like this before.

The restaurant’s service is welcoming and attentive, and the staff is always ready to provide recommendations and guide you through the menu. Barracuda’s location in a small shopping mall makes it a convenient choice for a meal during your shopping excursion.

As an unexpected bonus for beer enthusiasts, Barracuda offers huge bins of beer from 1 liter each, making it a perfect accompaniment to your Portuguese meal. They also serve great Portuguese home wine. Whether you’re a seasoned food enthusiast or new to Portuguese cuisine, Barracuda is a must-visit restaurant in Funchal, Madeira, offering an affordable and delicious dining experience that won’t disappoint.

Please note, they only take cash. Luckily there is a bank at 3 minutes walk from the restauarant.
