Amsterdam is a city that is well-known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant food scene, and it is no different when it comes to burgers. With so many great burger restaurants to choose from, it can be difficult to narrow down the options, but after trying out a number of different restaurants, I have finally settled on my top three favorite burger joints in Amsterdam.
First on my list is Lombardo’s, a small but cozy restaurant that seats only six people. Lombardo’s is my absolute favorite burger restaurant in Amsterdam, and it’s not hard to see why. The burgers here are made with the freshest ingredients, and the combinations of flavors are simply amazing. Whether it’s the juicy patty, the crispy lettuce, or the perfectly toasted bun, everything about these burgers is spot on. Although the prices at Lombardo’s are a bit higher than other burger joints in the city, the quality of the food is well worth it. They have fish meat and even vegetarian options.
Next up is Happy Bull, a great burger restaurant that offers a wide range of different options, including some amazing red cheddar quasadillas. The secret to the success of Happy Bull’s burgers is in the homemade sauces, including a smoked mayonnaise that is simply irresistible. Although I am not a fan of cheddar cheese, the red cheddar they use on their burgers and in their quesidillas is so good that I can’t help but love it. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic burger or something a bit more adventurous, Happy Bull has something for everyone.
Last but certainly not least is Bulls and Dogs, a casual burger and hotdog restaurant that offers a variety of different options to choose from. Everything at Bulls and Dogs is made fresh, including the burgers, fries, snacks, hotdogs, and drinks. When it comes to the burgers, the restaurant has a simple menu, with three different types of burgers to choose from, but the flavors are so good that they don’t need any fancy sauces or ingredients to stand out. The combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients and simple, classic recipes make Bulls and Dogs a great choice for anyone looking for a delicious and affordable burger in Amsterdam.
Thrill Grill is a burger joint that stands out due to its commitment to using top-quality ingredients sourced from local farms, as well as eco-friendly packaging. They have a range of burgers, including vegetarian and vegan options, made with freshly baked buns and complemented by carefully selected toppings. The restaurant also offers sides such as mac and cheese croquettes, fries, and onion rings that are just as delicious as their burgers. The founder, Michelin star chef Robert Kranenborg, spent a whole year testing different ingredients before he was satisfied, and his dedication to quality is reflected in every dish.
Paindemie is a unique burger restaurant in Amsterdam, known for its white “toast bread” buns that add an interesting twist to classic burgers. The “leg big mie” burger, made with goat meat, and the “PFC” burger, made with fried chicken, are standout menu items. The restaurant also offers tasty toasties, french toast, and amazing fries. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, with comfortable seating. Paindemie is a must-visit restaurant for burger, sandwich, and french toast lovers, but reservations are recommended due to limited seating.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a delicious burger in Amsterdam, these three restaurants are a must visit. Whether you’re in the mood for something classic, something a bit more adventurous, or something in between, you’re sure to find something you love at Lombardo’s, Bulls and Dogs, Happy Bull, Thrill Grill or Paindemie. So the next time you’re in Amsterdam, be sure to give one (or all!) of these restaurants a try, and enjoy some of my favorite burgers in the city!
